The computer science club recently traveled to Houston to participate in Code Wars, hosted by Hewlett-Packard, a computer company that makes computers, video games and more.
Code Wars is a three hour competition in which contestants work in groups of three or two to finish as many programs correctly as possible. There were over 500 students, 175 teams, 240 pizzas and 685 chicken biscuits.
The day before Code Wars, the club members and Mrs. Andrea Henderson, club sponsor, ate at The Cheese Cake Factory and shopped at Walgreens.
“It was a lot of fun. I just kind of feel bad Jack [Huey] didn’t get to go because he helped us prepared and at the end couldn’t go,” sophomore Jonathan Chinners said.
Even though they didn’t place, they are very proud for scoring three points, completing two of the 18 challenging problems. After all it was a learning experience, but next year they plan on coming back with flying colors.
