Journalism program wins 23 awards
May 9, 2022
UIL’s Interscholastic League Press Conference awards were announced for the previous year’s yearbook and newspapers published from February of last year through this past February. Sometimes there is crossover where yearbook students win newspaper awards because their work was also published in the newspaper and vice versa.
Over 4,000 entries were submitted to ILPC across the state. This year, the Wylie East newspaper and yearbook programs combined received 23 individual achievement awards. UIL judges entries against schools of the same size throughout the state of Texas and awards first through third place in categories from photography to writing to layout and design. Then they also award two honorable mentions in each contest. These awards are State wins!
