He is known as a senior, homecoming nominee and the pep rally MC, but soon he will be known as a published musician.

For the last three years, senior Carter Pohlmeier, in collaboration with Raider Records, has worked on an album full of music. The album, titled For A Start, includes several influences and elements of rock, pop, jazz and R&B.

“There isn’t necessarily an overarching theme that unites the whole album, but the songs work pretty well together; they were all made at different times in my life,” Pohlmeier said.

Raider Records, a music and business club that offers students the opportunity to participate and grow in recording, production and audio engineering, has helped Pohlmeier with his music career and the album, and to help him start in the music industry. Raider Records is also responsible for the ride for the brand video released last year.

“A lot went into making this album. A lot of the songs were being worked on for the past two years,” Raider Records sponsor Mr. Levi Turner said. “Some of them took longer than others, but it was a lot of fun putting it together.”

The album has a lot of influences, but it is alternative overall.

“It’s hard to choose a favorite because there are so many on the album that I can go back and feel genuinely happy about,” Pohlmeier said.

The album comes out Oct. 16 on all streaming services and platforms.

“My favorite song is a toss up between Back In The Day because of the laid back mood of the track and JCP’s vocals,” Turner said. “ I love the production on In the River, the sample he used in producing the track is perfect, and I’ll Call You ft. Turner.”

Pohlmeier is already working on an extended play record, a mini-album, with more music.

“When I set out to make a song, I almost always start with music, because it’s my favorite part and I’m honestly not very good at coming up with lyrics that I like,” Pohlmeier said.

Search for For A Start by Jackson Pohlmeier on youtube  or on any other platform to find the album.

“Music has always been the means through which I’m able to better understand the world, so being able to make music of my own and putting it out there for whoever finds it has been an exciting adventure,” Pohlmeier said. “My goal would be to do any career that allows me to work with music, whether that’s creating my own or producing someone else’s.”
