Following a historic contest season, the Pride of the East band will travel to San Antonio to compete in the UIL State Marching Band Competition for the first time in the band’s history. The band was one of four that advanced from Texas Area B, who each fought for their shot at state at the UIL Area Marching Competition in Little Elm Oct. 26. 

“When I realized we were going to state, I felt overwhelmingly proud, happy and exuberant,” Head Drum Major Jordyn Moore. “I think from now on we need to push even harder to compete at state.”

Featuring the songs Requiem Mass in D Minor by Mozart, Short Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams, Masquerade by Andrew Lloyd Webber and an original piece entitled Massive Christopher Bill and Alex Thode, the Pride presented their show entitled Massive. The band placed fourth overall, preceded by Frisco ISD schools Lonestar High School, Wakeland High School, and Lebanon Trail High School.

The state competition will take place in the Alamodome Nov. 4-5 and the Pride of the East is working harder than ever with their directors Mr. Greg Hayes, Mr. Adam Bassett, Mrs. Kelsey Dunham, Mr. Alex Fernandez, and Mr. Robert Houpe.

“We have to really focus on maxing out our potential by cleaning our drill and being more confident in our sound before we compete next Monday,” Band President Enoch Olajimi said.
