A blaring melody was heard throughout Bozeman Farms Saturday, Sept. 7. No, it was not an alarm clock, nor was it a street musician. It was the Pride of the East band. 

The band stepped off at 9 a.m. sharp, marching around 3.2 miles through Bozeman Farms, Wylie Fire Station No. 3 and the Wylie Walmart, all in an effort to raise money for props, uniforms, instruments and more. The band has already raised over $43,000 hopes to raise $50,000 by their final deadline of Sept. 27. For more information about donations and to donate click here.

“I loved getting to play for the firemen and marching through Walmart,” senior drum major Jordyn Moore said. “Doing my last March-a-thon made me realize that a chapter of my life that I truly love is coming to a close.”

Under the direction of head band director Mr. Greg Hayes, assistant director Mrs. Kelsey Dunham and Mr. Adam Bassett, the band played excerpts from their 2019 show Massive, a conceptual show featuring songs such as “Masquerade” from Phantom of the Opera. They will compete Sept. 28 at the Little Elm Classic on the Lake competition.
