Gym walls were lined with navy, royal blue and white posters. Fatheads of the homecoming nominees and streamers hung from the ceiling. It was finally time for the 2017 homecoming pep rally.

As the student body made their way down to the gym, sounds from the DJ’s blaring music could be heard. The pep rally was to get everyone excited for that night’s football game against Lovejoy.

Preparing for those Friday night lights, students’ faces were covered in paint, and mums the size of Texas were hung around girls’ necks as they entered the gym.

Once everyone took their seats the band started to play the national anthem as ROTC presented the colors. Followed by the Fight Song.

While chanting along to the song, the football team entered from the back doors and took their seats. Sapphires were up next as they performed a hip hop routine. As they walked off, senior Madison Dorethy stepped on to the middle of the court to introduce the homecoming court.

Next up was a competition hosted by student council, which included a life size game of Hungry Hungry Hippo. Social studies teacher Mrs. Samantha Smith and English teacher Mrs. Jessica Brown won the match.

Lastly, the pep rally was topped off with a performance by JV and varsity cheer.

Although, that night the football team fell 21-28, fans still remember, the loud noise of cowbells being waved in the stands, and the sound of feet hitting the bleachers, as students cheered on their team from the stands.
