Abby Hardage dances through high school
October 27, 2016
Sapphires Captain Abby Hardage loves to dance more than anything.
“I’ve been dancing for 10 years and I love hip hop and jazz,” Hardage said.
Becoming the Captain of Sapphires her senior year is something she always dreamed of.
“I’m very honored to have this opportunity and to lead such an amazing team,” Hardage said.
She is ready to make new memories during her senior year.
“I’m very excited for senior night because it’s the last time the seniors will perform together on the field and it will be filled with awesome memories,” Hardage said.
There were many moments Abby felt were memorable.
“I will never forget when we went to Universal Studios with the whole team and won at Nationals. The
most amazing feeling was being champions with some of my best friends,” Hardage said.
Senior Lieutenant Onyi Amadi was surprised when her best friend was named captain of the team.
“When I found out that Abby was captain, it came as a shock but I was happy for her. I told her that if she needed help she could ask me because I was previously an officer so I knew a little bit more about how things went down behind the scenes,” Amadi said.
The 2016-2017 Sapphires line was invited to perform at the Rose Bowl Parade in California this December.
“I’m so excited we get to perform at the Rose Bowl and create new memories,” Hardage said.
Hardage plans to continue her dancing career at Texas Tech University.
“I’m planning on trying out for the Texas Tech pom squad. It has always been a dream of mine to attend Tech. It’s just an amazing school and I love the medical school there,” Hardage said.
Hardage plans to work in the medical field after graduating from Tech.
“I would really like to become a nurse after college and move to Colorado,” Hardage said.
“Our next performance is this Friday, we are playing Forney and performing a pom to We got the Beat,” Hardage said.
