There’s no place like East: Hallway decor covers walls Hoco week
October 20, 2015
The theme this year is “Wizard of Oz,” come up with by Caryn Seed, the head cheer coach. Students incorporated different ideas from the movie such as Munchkin Land, the yellow brick road, rainbows and different elements from the different characters.
Posters are put up that read “East has heart,” “East has brains,” “East has courage,” “I’m melting!” and “There’s no place like East,” representing the main characters and famous quotes from the film.
“I walked into the hallway on Monday and thought ‘Whoa, that’s different’,” said sophomore Seth Ragsdale about the hall decorations in the 200 hall area, where each of the characters of the film were put up with their famous wants from the Oz.
This year instead of the different classes (2016, 2017, etc.) being in charge of a certain hallway for decorating, the duty was split among a few different organizations.
“I think the theme this year is cute,” said Mya George, senior varsity cheerleader. “I think Homecoming is really fun and a way to get involved.”
The organizations in charge of the hall decorating were:
Cheer – Front Entrance
Stuco – Cafeteria hallway to the 400 hall entrance
College Club – 200 hall corridor (In front of 208)
Choir – 400 hallway to the end of the corridor (towards the band hall)
ROTC – ROTC hall to the dance room
Leo Club – 900 hall corridor
Art Club – 400 hall
Yearbook – from Life Skills to year book room
NHS- Cafeteria hallway to the 800 hall entrance
French- yearbook class to the end of the hall way
“I admire the people who took the time out of their weekend to make this hallway look pretty cool,” senior Haleigh Nordmeyer said.
