Don’t step on the maroon tiles, bring blue streamers. No powder, it’s bad luck. Tailgate at 7. The Raider Rumble culminates this week’s Cross Town Show Down.

Wylie High and Wylie East have played three rivalry games that ended with Wylie East on top all three years. The ending scores have been 63-7 as the student body loves to chant, 46-38 and 35-28.

All week long in home room classes students have learned the Raider Rumble which is a five minute choreographed dance that will be performed at the pep rally and at the game.

Students were iffy about it at first but now the dance is being heard coming through the doors of different classrooms and the cafeteria.

“Two days ago people were complaining about doing the chants, now everybody is joining in,” senior Isaac Pinilla tweeted.

While students were walking from their second period to third period classes, the halls broke out in “Raider Nation” chants.  While students walked to fourth period they chanted “Nomo Ahmo”. During all lunches students gathered in the cafeteria and stood on tables to do the Raider Rumble.

“Wylie East is getting Hyped all day today,” senior Taylor Clay tweeted.

Bluing out the Pirates has already started with everyone wearing a blue spirit shirt with most having the phrase “Raider Nation Strong” on the back.

Assistant Principal Dr. Amy Burkman is even wearing an old JV cheerleading uniform that was borrowed from senior Kyleigh Anderson.

“I am going to wear the uniform to the pep rally and cheer with the cheerleaders on the sidelines tonight as well,” Dr. Burkman said.

Wylie High school has gone to the extent of putting their blue chairs in the corner and refusing to sit in them and Jacob Webb, a Wylie High student, even made a comment of deleting his Twitter because it is blue.

Chick-Fil-A helped add to the rivalry between the two schools this week by holding a competition to see who could get the most receipts for their school. The competition was this week only and the winning school will be presented with a $700 check and the second place school will be granted a $500 check.

Today’s pep rally will start at 3:45 with the DJ playing music while Fluid Effect takes the dance floor. Senior Daija Eggins and junior Nadja Hameen will then rap their Raider Nation rap. Following this will be the Raider Rumble the students have prepared for.

“My goals for tonight’s game are to have no turnovers and make sure my job is taken care of,” junior quarterback Braden Shewmake said.

The fourth rivalry game will kick off at 7:30 tonight with the Raiders on the home side and the Pirates on the visitor’s side.

“I always love tonight because this game always brings our school together,” senior Christie Reid tweeted.
