Spanish Honor Society inducts 40 new members

Spanish Honor Society inducts 40 new members

The Spanish Honor Society induction was held March 20 in the auditorium where 40 new members were inducted into the club.

Physics teacher David Shipp was the guest speaker and an original recording by senior Gabriel Hernandez was played as the inductees completed the ceremony.

The society’s purpose is to recognize students’ achievements in Spanish.

The following students have maintained an honor average in their Spanish studies as well as a high overall GPA:

Jessica Carter, Ana Castillo, Madison Clark, Kayla Corley, Jourdan Delacruz, Peyton Demetrovich, Crystal Enns, Holli Foley, Abby Fraser, Riley Freeman, Omar Frias, Camila Garcia, Mya George, Jake Graham, Renae Helmberger, Sydney Herzog, Matthew Jackson , Madeline Jones, Joon Kwon, Kevin Kwon, Ariel Lopez, Alexandra Martinez, Hailey Morris, Gideon Odonkor, Joahanna Olivas, Kelly Pettersen, Tina Pham, Victoria Rushing, Mildred Sanchez, Jeanine Saygi, Catherine Shirley, Brittney Simon, Anmol Singh, Mikaila Summers, Sydney Tanner, Elisabeth Teitelman, Tiffany Tran, Jacob Ward, Abigail Welsh and Lydia Yesufu.

The 2014 graduating seniors of SHS were presented with graduation cords representing their exceptional achievements in Spanish.

I’m Brooke Vincent, fan of Twenty One Pilots, Panic at the Disco and Bear Hands. You can take that as bands or that I just really love multiple pilots, anxiety at parties and paws for hands. Either way I won’t be offended. My life revolves around journalism, I work at The Wylie News and frequent Mrs. Thedford’s class at least four periods a day. I enjoy traveling to faraway places like the Colosseum in Italy and Stingray City in Grand Cayman. This spring break I will be taking a cheesy tourist picture in front of the Eifel Tower and another in front of the London Eye. I have no shame. Hopefully I can be one of the reasons that our staff wins awards and recognitions for top quality reporting and our ability to keep our students informed about not only changes in the school but also what’s happening in the world around us.
