With a gesture and a shout, hands are thrown up in the air and the entire student section is covered in white baby powder. Screams and shouts ring out as the substance is lifted into the sky by the wind and slowly begins to dissipate.

At the last football game of the season, juniors Cole Freda and McKenzie Geisert came up with the idea to get the student section to chant “I believe that we will win” prior to the baby powder bomb at both kickoffs.

While most students were informed and ready to go, some were just as startled and caught off guard as the guests seated in the other sections at the game.

“I thought it was surprising because I didn’t know it was going to happen until we got there,” sophomore Anita Ocampo said.

The bomb did its job well as most everyone in the student section was pumped for the game and cheering the team on.

“It was exciting until I couldn’t see, and it was in my eyes,” junior Nicole Murdock said.

The prank, inspired by a Vine video, only took a few minutes before the baby powder completely vanished.

“A few of the adults were upset because they thought it would become slippery in the five minutes of light sprinkles we received,” senior Makenzie Baker said.

Although the powder bomb pepped up the crowd, it still was not enough. The Raiders fell to Lovejoy by only three points, 47-44, ending their final opportunity to get into the playoffs.
