Student drives unusual car
It’s large, purple and grey, and recognizable to the majority of the school. It’s known because of its uniqueness and is widely appreciated. It’s a ‘71 Volkswagen bus and it belongs to junior Dustin Sheets.
“It was given to me by my father; he’s had it since before I was born,” Sheets said.
Sheets said that his van is very valuable to him and admitted he’s put a good amount of money into it, working on improving things.
“I’ve gotten many offers to buy it and I turned them all down,” Sheets said. “My favorite thing about the van is how unique it is.”
Sheets’s girlfriend of three months, junior Haley Rasmussen, also enjoys the car but admits she was a little scared of it at first.
“It looks creepy but I love it now,” Rasmussen said. “It’s like a little house inside.”
Sheets said that he has some special memories with the car since he got it.
“I recently used it in a physics video and went the ‘speed of light’ in it,” Sheets said.
The video is on YouTube and titled ‘Baddest Vanz’. It focuses on the field of view and it demonstrated the differences between someone in the van and someone watching it.
“It turned out alright. I went too fast and it shrunk the van,” Sheets said.

Like his own child, he gave the van a name.
“I like to call it David when no one’s listening,” Sheets said.
