With the air still and the sun bright everyone had warmth in their heart thinking of Mr. Birmingham.
Select students from Wylie High and Wylie East traveled over to the Wylie Cemetery in remembrance of Mr. Birmingham April 17. Along with the students Eric Hogue, Mayor of Wylie ISD, Dr. David Vinson, WISD Superintendent, and Jon Lewis, Director of the Birmingham Land Trust were in attendance.
“The mayor was very informative and I learned about the Birmingham Land Trust. I am very thankful that the Birmingham family is still so generous to WISD,” said junior Abby Smith.
To be selected, students had to be a part of the Student Advisory Council. This tradition has been going on for around 70 years now.
“The Birmingham Land Trust document states: for the school to keep being rewarded from this trust, the memorial must take place every year,” Principal Mike Williams said.
