Senior Zach Freeman and freshman Alexis Tarkowski were chosen as the fifth six weeks Star Students to represent the school at the Wylie Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. They will be presented an engraved medallion by Mayor Eric Hogue.
Tarkowski’s English I teacher was only one of the many teachers who nominated her.
“When I think of what it means to be fair, I think of Alexis.” English teacher Mrs. Megan Maxwell said. “She is patient and kind to others, and she takes responsibility for her own actions. I am always so impressed by her dedication and leadership.”
Coach Jill Reynolds coaches Tarkowski in basketball.
“Alexis is a very sharing and caring student,” Reynolds said. “She always puts others before herself.”
Freeman has played baseball under the direction of Coach Heath Andrews for the past four years.
“Zach has a loving, kind spirit for others,” Andrews said, “because of that, he always puts himself second. It is never a question if Zach is going to do the right thing.”
All students who received a nomination are invited to the next WEHS Honors Luncheon and will be presented a certificate with a hand written message from their nominating teacher.
