The Sons of the American Revolution came to visit ROTC Feb. 8.
“We want to keep the facts straight [on America’s beginning],” Colonel Wilbanks said.
They also came to encourage students to keep their grades up and aim for betterment.
“Always strive for excellence in everything you do, because you’re always going to be compared to someone else,” Guest Speaker Jerry Dalton said.
Dalton was also the first person to serve as Director of Federal affairs during World War II.
“Part of our curriculum is teaching flag etiquette and we can do that by PowerPoint, but by bringing men in, the students learn more. Students now are more visual, so seeing the men in suits talk to them they learn more,” Wilbanks said.
Wilbanks enjoyed having the men come and speak to the students in ROTC, he only wished they had more time to ask more questions.
“I learned that the little ribbons on their hats are from places they have been stationed,” freshmen Claire Bernarte said.
