Senior Announcements/ Caps & Gowns
Graduation announcements and Caps and Gowns will be distributed during the Senior Meeting April 6.  Graduation ticket request forms will also be distributed during that night.

Graduation Rehearsal
“Rehearsal is an expectation for all seniors and will be held on Thursday May 25 at 9 a.m.,” Principal Mike Williams said.

Buses will depart from WEHS at 10 am. Seniors are expected to report to the Main Gym at 9 a.m. and may wear WEHS spirit shirts and jeans. Students do not need to wear regalia for rehearsal. Following rehearsal, students will be brought back to WEHS by bus.

“All students are expected to ride the buses to and from the Allen Event Center. Students will not be admitted if they do not ride a bus. Failure to attend practice may result in not being allowed to take part in the graduation ceremony,” Mr. Williams said.

Can my senior drive to graduation?
For students to participate in graduation, they must ride buses from the school. Students should arrive at the WEHS competition gym with their cap and gown no later than 12:30 May 27. Students will be lined up and put on buses according to how they will sit in the Allen Event Center. Graduates are not required to ride buses back to WEHS after graduation.

How can I get tickets? What about extra tickets?
Seniors will be given a request form on Thursday, April 6 where they may request up to 12 tickets. Collection of forms will start on April 6. All seniors must return the ticket request form to get tickets. The form must be turned in no later than Friday, April 28, 2017. Students will have the option to request up to an additional five tickets. Additional tickets will be dispersed based on the date and time when form is returned. This request does not guarantee additional tickets. Additional tickets may not be seated with the 12 assigned.

What should I do if I have a family member who requires handicapped seating?
If someone in your family will require ADA/Handicap seating, please note they will not be seated with the rest of the family, and due to seating restraints will be allowed ONE attendant to be seated with him/her in the elevator accessible area. Make this request on the same ticket form provided students during the senior meeting.

When will seniors receive tickets for graduation?
Graduation tickets will be distributed May 10 during Power Hour. Tickets not picked up by May 19 will be redistributed.

Do the tickets cost?
Graduation tickets are free, as well as the parking around the Allen Event Center. Although the tickets are free, each person must have a ticket to enter the building.

Graduation FAQ’S

Is the seating general admission or reserved? Seats are reserved (similar to a concert), and will be distributed in random blocks of seats so that all tickets distributed to a senior are together (additional tickets over the assigned may not be seated together). Due to the arrangement of the Allen Event Center, there are no “bad” seats.

What time will the doors open for the event?
The doors will open at 2 p.m., one hour before the event is scheduled to start. Please note the doors will lock when the graduation processional prepares to enter the arena. No one will be allowed to enter the facility from 2:50-3:15 p.m.

Caps and Gown Distribution
Caps and gowns will be passed out to all graduating seniors Thursday, April 6 during the senior meeting.

How can I order the class of 2016 panoramic group picture?
Goldbeck Panoramic Photography will be at WEHS on May 23, 2017 to take the group photograph. Students will be given an order form to bring back the next day. The students will need check or cash to purchase the pictures. Students will need their gown for this picture. They will not need their cap.

What is the Senior Walk?
All seniors will visit one of the elementary campuses in the WEHS attendance zone and will be greeted by the elementary students as the seniors walk the halls of the campus. Seniors will need their cap and gown for this event and all medals and cords. The date for the event is May 23, 2017. The approximate time the students will start the Senior Walk is 10:15 a.m. See the first senior walk here.

Seniors may wear their caps and gowns and all medals and cords to school on May 19.

My student is in the top 10 percent of his/her class. How are the tassel or gold cords distributed?
All regalia, including appropriate tassels and cords, will be delivered to the students before graduation day.

What should I wear to graduation?
Clean, pressed, sharp! Guys should wear dark colored pants and a white shirt. Dark colored shoes is always best to wear.Girls should wear dark colored slacks and a light colored blouse or a dress that is light color.

“Please select the appropriate footwear ladies. You will be doing a lot of walking and heels might not be the best choice,” Mr. Williams said.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR!
No glasses or other objects may hang from graduationgowns. No polos, t-shirts or zip ups.

Students will be able to adorn their cap with the logo of the college or university they will attend, or if joining the military, they may put the logo of the branch in which they will serve. This must be approved by students’ assistant principals before graduation day.

“If your cap does not meet this requirement, you will not be allowed to wear that cap and must purchase a new cap,” Mr. Williams said.
