Algebra II Teacher uses Edmodo to help students

Algebra II Teacher uses Edmodo to help students

As time has progressed, technology has evolved.  Students are having to become even more technologically elite as time goes by. Many students are connected to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and now they’ve got Edmodo.

Math Teacher Tracene Nechamkin realizes that technology and social networking plays a huge role in students’ lives and has now begun using Edmodo to connect with her students outside the classroom.

“It’s a great resource for students to get all the assignments and [they can even] group study,” Nechamkin said.

Edmodo allows Mrs. Nechamkin to not only be available during class time, or during her tutorial times, she is available every day until about 10 p.m. via Edmodo. Even after that, students are available to answer their peer’s questions.

Students are even recommending the site to other students. Edmodo takes time out of teenagers’ busy schedules, and is an easy site for catching up on missing work as well as studying for tests.

“It’s easy and the format makes cramming easy to do,” sophomore Payton Potter said.

Every teacher has a different Edmodo for every class.  Everything is posted on the wall, so every user can see it.  Teachers are not the only ones who can help students with their questions.  When a question is posted, then peers can help one another too.  This becomes a study tool.

“If you can teach a topic then you definitely understand it,” Nechamkin said.
