Sweetheart enlists help of cheerleaders in asking his date to homecoming

Sophomores Jason Etchieson and Sophie Lott have been dating since eighth grade, even though they have been together for so long, Etchieson still had the common courtesy to ask her to homecoming. Not only did he ask her, but he went all out in his requisition.

During half time of the football game against Highland Park, Etchieson and the varsity cheerleaders did a special cheer just for Lott. Junior Brittany Coughlin went up into an extension and yelled “Hey Sophie!” while holding up a sign, then they did the same with junior Karsyn Griffin sporting the “Will You Go” sign, followed by junior Amanda Coats’ sign reading “to Homecoming,” and finally Etchieson stood up with a sign above his head which read “with me,” with an arrow pointing down to him.

“She cried and had a big smile. I could tell it meant a lot to her as well as the way I did it just made it more special,” Etchieson said.

Not only was it special since he got the cheerleaders involved, but the entire school was there to witness this touching moment.

“When I saw her reaction by the way I asked her to homecoming, her face made me feel accomplished and that was what made it the most memorable moment this year,” Etchieson said.
