Four girls and 10 boys will play on the junior varsity team in the upcoming tournament Oct. 6 at Twin Creeks golf course.

“I isolate myself during practice,” sophomore Luke Pendley said. “Each day we are given a different set of drills, so we are able to practice all areas of our game play.”

Players are given the opportunity to go out on a practice course that has three par holes after they have finished the drills head coach Melinda Black has given them.

“I take lessons after practice and each lesson we work to better my swing,” freshman Abby Miller said.

Between practice and private lessons, players work towards one similar goal: Doing well in the tournament to keep his or her spot on varsity. The players find ways to better their gameplay. They are able to move to varsity by scoring low in tournaments.

“I focus on a specific club to see how it affects my game and my swing differently,” Palmer said. “I believe it will help my muscle memory, to better improve my swing.”

The golf team is looking for more girls to join to complete their group. If looking for a sport that helps hand eye coordination and concentration, give it a shot. Contact Coach Melinda Black in room 928 for more information.
