Netting four of their six goals within the first 10 minutes of the game, the varsity girls’ soccer team gave themselves a strong lead for the rest of the Feb. 17 away game against Sherman.

Junior Valiree Morris, junior Maddi Simms, sophomore Tori Smith, senior Morgan Cave, sophomore Addi McCain and senior Asia Revely all scored during the drizzly game.

“One of the best plays was probably when Asia crossed it to Addie from a corner kick and Addie headed it in,” Cave said.

Out with a knee injury, starting goalie Brooklyn Scroggins gave her place to Smith and junior Megan Paul for the Tuesday night game. Scroggins will be back to play at the McKinney North game Feb. 20.

“Tori played really well for not being an actual goalie and could become a really great one in the future,” junior Jordan Perry said.

The team is 7:3:1 overall and 4-3 at district. They are ranked 43 in the state.

“McKinney and Prosper were the hardest games,” Simms said, “We had to come together as a team and push through the adversity that came our way.”

Both the junior varsity and varsity girls teams play McKinney North at home Feb. 20 and Wylie High Feb. 24.
