Varsity volleyball played Frisco Centennial for their first playoff game Nov. 4 at Frisco.

Before the game started the players were excited but nervous. They knew it was going to be a tough, competitive match. They had already met their goal of making it to playoffs and now they were ready to play their best.

After making it far into playoffs last year, the team had changed as a result of losing last year’s seniors.

“We have shorter blockers this year,” senior Brittany Jones said.

Although Centennial had more fans and supporters, the players did not let it get to them.

“Our crowd was good; we wanted to show them our best performance,” Jones said.

After varsity lost the first two matches 25-14 and 25-20, they had to win the third match to still have a chance in winning the overall game. UIL rules say that the first team to win three out of five matches wins the game.

The girls still were not nervous yet. They had come back to win the whole game after being down two matches before.

“We still had a chance and I focused on each individual point and stayed positive,” junior Daina Phillips said.

They then lost the third match 25-12, losing the game.

“We did the best we could; best performance all season,” Jones said.

This ended the season for this year’s varsity volleyball team.
