Trainers choose football over everything else.

High school football in Texas is a huge deal. Everyone gets pumped up for Friday Night Football, the drill team dances, and the cheerleaders cheer, the band plays the fight song the—whole shindig. These organizations can’t get all the credit though… There are other groups that help make Friday night lights possible, like the teachers, coaches, and last but not least: the trainers.

Trainers are awesome, don’t get me wrong.  It’s the student trainers that bother me. Football isn’t the most important sport there is, especially when football season is over. THERE ARE OTHER SPORTS TOO. The girl athletes are always getting ignored. Basketball girls, soccer girls, track girls, etc. all get upset when the football guys come in and have the trainers take care of them first. News flash: Your athletic period is over, get out.

Even the coaches get frustrated by this because the trainers make the football players their top priority, which makes the girl athletes late to practice. Not only that, but these female student trainers just sit and gossip about their weekends. See where I’m coming from?

Wrapping or taping someone’s ankle, knee, elbow or whatever is really not that hard. All you have to do is get the Vasoline pads put them on, and then put the pre-wrap on over it, and after that you use the sports tape to tape over the pre-wrap. Mind blown.

It’s truly aggravating to walk in the trainer’s room, to be told “Give me five minutes and I’ll help you out.” And oh hey look! It’s time for EAST, then they ask you: “Do you still need to get wrapped?” When in your head you say “I should’ve taken the chance on breaking my ankle, oh, never mind it would be the same scenario, I’ll be waiting for someone to help me out.”
