I’m not a kid anymore

In high school, we still have the opportunity to watch movies during free times when we don’t have to do work, like during TAKS or final exams, but what bugs me is that we have to stick to G or PG movies. Seriously? Are we in first grade? No, I don’t think so.

Students are already over 13, so why do they only have permission to watch G or PG movies? As I recall, they are “young adults” not little 7-year-old kids that don’t know any better. I think we have more sense than that and I’m pretty sure we don’t always want to watch “The Lion King” or “Open Season”. Sometimes teens want to watch something a little bit more risqué, something a little bit more mature; you know, like PG-13 movies.

To seriously not be able to watch PG-13 movies without permission is really ridiculous. I mean really ridiculous. I believe everyone at this school is above 13 and doesn’t need to be shielded by the “horrible world of PG-13 movies”. The whole idea is making my head hurt, I mean seriously, I understand why we can’t watch like R rated movies, but PG-13? “Protecting the students” has gone to a whole new level.

Are PG-13 movies that bad? I don’t think so. I don’t see any reasons to not be able to watch them without permission. There is hardly, actually, I don’t think there is an “inappropriate” PG-13 movie, which means that we should at least be able to watch those kinds of movies. They aren’t a bad influence, trust me.
