A service club that has swept the halls, been beneficial to hundreds and has been around since the 50s, the Leo Club is an organization on campus with a goal of helping others.

“I have a heart for service and love to teach students about it so they can love it too,” Leo Club Sponsor Mrs. Gricelda Mathis said.

Leo Club is a school organization but it is not just in schools.

“It’s an organization in 140 countries,” Mrs. Mathis said.

This group has inspired others to join like mother-daughter duo Faith and Mrs. Mathis

“My sister was in the club and I noticed she was having a lot of fun so I decided to join and I haven’t regretted it,” senior Faith Mathis said.

Last year, the Leo Club won the Humanitarian Award.

“When students realize they love to serve and do service projects, it makes me feel blessed I chose to sponsor this organization,” Mrs. Mathis said.

Leo Club has also changed people’s lives for the better.

“The club has taught me leadership skills and helped me become president of the Leo Club,” Faith said.

The organization helps students build their social skills.

“Seeing kids talk and get out of their shell is the proudest thing that has happened in the Leo Club,” Faith said.
