Little shop, little shoppa horrors. Bop sh-bop, you’ll never stop the terror. Little shop, little shoppa horrors. No, oh, oh, no, oh, oh, no, oh, oh, no! This is a theme song people have been bopping to since 1986 and it will soon be ringing in the ears of students.

Choir director Ashley Dame and theatre director Andrea Farnham, are putting on Little Shop of Horrors, the musical.

The characters in the musical have been cast and finalized. It may just be a school musical but standards and expectations are still high.

“There is dancing, singing, and acting components in a multi-step process,” Mrs. Dame said. “It is a major time commitment and not to be taken lightly.”

The students who made it into the musical had to go through a mandatory audition process Oct. 8 before they were cast.

“Students performed in front of a panel of judges to showcase the best of their performance range.” Mrs. Dame said. “They auditioned for multiple parts and the panel put together the best ensemble based on characters and performer interaction.”

Students in the musical have an opportunity to build on their talents.

“It is a wonderful way to improve performance skills. Everyone who performs gains confidence and has a wonderful time collaborating,” Mrs. Dame said.

The musical is January in the auditorium.
