Girl Scout cookies can be found around just about every corner. Profit from sales of each box go back to each girl’s troop.

Freshman McKenzie Todd joined The Girl Scouts in fourth grade as a Junior. She likes to be a part of the Girl Scouts because of the opportunities to help people in the community.

“Being a Girl Scout in high school is definitely rare because a lot of people have other things they do in high school,” Todd said. “It can also be hard because with all the work I have from school following up with the work from Girl Scouts. It can get difficult at times but it’s something good to do.”

Girl Scouts are known for selling cookies. The money earned from each troop is one way the Girl Scouts help the community.  Also if they have enough money, the Scouts can go on trips to learn new adventurous things.

“Every year after we are done selling cookies, if we have enough money we get to go on a Summer trip,” Todd said. “One year, we went to Houston and got to stay the night at NASA. We also did stuff around the Houston area with the Troop.”

Todd is working on her Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve.

“Although it’s getting harder to earn my 80 hours of work, I will strive to earn my worth through hard work to achieve my goal.”
