Homecoming is just around the corner, and nominations have started, dresses have been bought and mums have been made.

The following are this year’s homecoming princess and prince nominees.

The freshmen nominees are Macey Griffin, Isabella Stephens, Berry Stevens, Chelsey Elder, TK Gaykin and Zack Haaland.

The sophomore nominees are Melanye Simmons, Elizabeth Stewart, Kaitlyn Vickery, Grant Bellah, Corbin Johnson and Jerry Okonkwo.

The junior nominees are Chanel Hawkins, Makayla Marley, Shonna Smith, Travis Delgado, Kieron Hunter and Paden Scott.

The senior nominees are Kayla Brown, Lauren Dukes, Lauren Garcia, Greta Williams, Eno Benjamin, Tanner McDonald, Brandon Spiegel and Sawyer Tolleson.

“A homecoming prince/princess should be an individual who has a good character and is respectful,” Principal Mike Williams said.

The homecoming king and queen are announced at halftime of the homecoming game. The king and queen will practice walking and accepting the awards, they will also go out to lunch paid for by Principal Williams.

The homecoming parade is Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Wylie. Contact Student Council with questions or see Mrs. Gholson in room 932.

The theme of this year’s homecoming theme is “Cruise into Victory”

The week of homecoming students are encouraged to participate in dress up days.

Mon.-Travel day, PJ day (must be school appropriate)

Tues.-Excursion day, Beach attire (School appropriate)

Wed.-Day at sea, Twin day

Thurs.-Tacky Tourist

Fri.- Back to port, Spirit wear (mums and garters)

The homecoming game is at Wylie ISD stadium against West Mesquite Oct. 21

The dance is Oct.22 from 7-10 p.m. in the cafeteria. Sapphires are selling homecoming dance tickets during lunch. for $20 each. Tickets are $25 at the door. All non Wylie East students attending the dance as a date must get an approval form from 108 or 805 signed and returned by Oct. 17.
