As people trail into the auditorium like kids in a candy store, the stage stays stagnant in perfect preparation for the choir’s last performance. The lights dim, the curtains separate, the choir is revealed. All eyes focus on the singing students as they end the year with a spectacular show.

“Singing ‘Let the River Run’ and ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’ with the whole choir was very special,” sophomore Lindy Surratt said.

In the auditorium all the accomplishments and improvements shined on the stage as each member sang with their truest abilities May 12. The choir began their show with all the groups on stage performing ‘Let the River Run’ to depict the ongoing efforts that each student made during the year.

“I felt very nostalgic of all the other concerts that took place this year. It made me hopeful for the future,” junior Lindsey Brandow said.

The show started with the Select Women’s choir, then gradually made it to the A Cappella choir. Belcanto, Men’s, Select Women’s, Prestige and A Cappella; all the choirs produced a show that highlighted the evolution of music over time.

“I got to see a lot of alumni that I got really close with. There was a different, more melancholy energy, because it was signifying the end of the year for our choir,” sophomore Carissa Thatcher said.

Concluding the concert, the whole choir bordered the audience to sing ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’ for all to hear. The alumni were welcomed to join the students on stage, bringing memories back to those who keep the choir’s legacy alive. This last concert of the year, the choir cherished every moment of it and brought all their work and preparation to the audience as a team.

The choir is directed by Terry Berrier.
