Students set up 5k run in honor of Nahum Martinez

Students set up 5k run in honor of Nahum Martinez

Light up the Night is a 5K run set up by the Interact Club to raise money for both the Nahum Martinez Scholarship Fund and the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Students are selling glow-in-the-dark shirts all week by the cafeteria for $10.

“We’re trying to get Mr. Williams to agree to let us wear jeans for these shirts,” junior Ailysha Anderson said.

Interact selected a run because of Martinez’s love for running.

“He was in track, so it’s important to him,” Anderson said.

The run is from 7-9 p.m. March 28, and it’s an $8 entry fee for individual runners, but only $5 for those who purchased a t-shirt.

“Tell people to come by and support us,” junior Brandy Jones said.

About the Contributor
Ash Thomas, Editor in Chief
Ash Thomas. Four time Oscar nominee. Avid sailor. Competitive wrestler. I’ve been around the world six times and I’m up for Woman of the Year. Except, not. Do I look like I could be a wrestler? Although I haven’t had the opportunity to do everything listed above, I have been given the honor of being Editor in Chief to the best high school newspaper in the world. This is my third (and sadly, last) year on staff and I am thrilled for the upcoming year. Outside of newspaper, I spend most of my time with my kitten, Adaline, who I adore as if she was my actual child, and my friends who I consider my most prized possessions. I’m dedicated to making this year one to remember both in school and out.
