Senior asks freshman to homecoming in cafeteria
It was a sign. Senior Michio Wood presented his homecoming proposal to freshman Isabella Noy in a manner one might consider unorthodox. Instead of privately asking in a more traditional way, he shouted out his question to the entire cafeteria, as his closest friends held up signs in the back.
He had several ideas originally, although they all ended up falling through.
“I was going to use the principal but someone took that idea,” Wood said. “Then I was going to use a banner but someone took that also.”
Wood’s signs were bright and read ‘HOMECOMING?’ in white against a colorful, spray-painted pink background.
“He said he wanted to ask this girl to homecoming and so we said, ‘alright, we’ll come up with an idea,’” senior Nash Winner said. “It was a team effort. We stayed up until 3 in the morning making the signs.”
That was not it though, Wood also gave her a little stuffed animal to entice her.
“I got her an owl because it’s her favorite animal,” Wood said.
Noy wasn’t completely unaware of it all, but she didn’t think the production would be quite so big. She shyly accepted before being greeted with claps and shouts from on looking students.
“He kind of told me that he was going to ask me, I just didn’t know when,” Noy said. “I’m very surprised.”
