Howdy Raiders,

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 24, the construction firm will be on the WEHS campus to begin to prep the campus for construction. With construction come changes to the processes that we have had in place since the start of the school year. I will list the changes that will affect how we do business for the rest of the school year. There could be additional changes that take place during the school year and we will let you know of them ASAP.

1. Parent drop off/ Parent Pick up- This area will move to the back of the gym. Students will enter the gym lobby and move up the stairs to the cafeteria in the mornings. In the afternoon students will be picked up at the same location. The present parent drop off/pick up area will be fenced and no traffic or students will be allowed in this area due to construction and staging taking place.

2. In the auditorium parking lot about 20 parking spaces will be taken at the southwest corner of the parking lot. This will allow the construction company to store and stage for the band hall and renovations to the present band hall. The fencing will extend to the west entrance of the school where students presently enter and exit to the auditorium parking lot. This will prevent students from using this area. Students will enter and exit through the auditorium during the construction period.

3. Fencing will be put up in other construction areas for the safety of students and the project.

a. Fence will be put up to surround the area where the field house will be built.

b. Fence will surround the grass field in front of the softball field for the construction company to stage and park.

c. Fence will be put up between the cafeteria and ROTC Drill Pad for the additional cafeteria space.

4. At some point in the spring all traffic will be rerouted onto an expanded roadway from the auditorium that leads to the back of the campus. Also at some point in the winter or spring an additional cut will be added for traffic entering and exiting the auditorium parking lot.

See the attached map that shows the changes. All construction is to be completed by the first day of classes in the 2013-2014 school year.
