Students PINK OUT for Sophie May

writer: Matt Milton

One little girl caused a flood of pink in the halls of Wylie East.

When the Friends of Rachel club got wind of Sophie May’ story, they knew they wanted to help. What started as a card drive for her second birthday, blossomed into an attack of pink.

Sophie, the daughter of Tibbals Elementary staff member, Whitney Sewell was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancerous tumor in her abdomen.

Students and staff showed support by wearing pink attire to school October 19th.

Donation jars were set up before school and during all lunches on Friday, and donations will be sent to the Sewell Family to help with Sophie’s medical expenses. As of noon on Friday, Watkins Elementary has already collected $850.

Student Council would like to invite all of Raider Nation to show support for Sophie and her family by wearing pink to the football game against Greenville.

Donation containers will be set up at the game to collect donations for the Sewell family as well.

About the Contributor
Matt Milton, Staff Writer
Hey! I’m Matt, I have been on the staff for three years. I like writing, but after high school I plan on majoring in either business or psychology with a minor in criminal justice. I then plan to go on and become a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. I have been a fan of police and what they do ever since I was born.  I have yet to choose a college but I don’t really want to go to out of state (too much money). I love the colors red and black. I don’t really have a favorite genre of music, just pretty much everything except for screamo. Well that tells you enough about me, unless I actually know you.
