The WEHS Future Farmers of America chapter traveled to Lubbock, Texas, to participate in the 83rd Texas State FFA convention. The students went through a rigorous process to receive a charter to become an official chapter during the 2010-2011 school year and received an $1,100 grant.
Students participated in multiple areas of the FFA convention.
The chapter was large enough this year to have two voting delegates during the sessions where they had a voice on many opportunities to vote for the Texas FFA.
Several students competed in individual awards. Senior Allison Murray competed in the Texas FFA science fair and finished third place. She also received the State Degree award and received her Lonestar Degree pin.
“I was so happy to have won all of the awards. The money will be really helpful,” Murray said.
